The Los Angeles based indie-pop group Foster The People are back with their third studio album. Released in July, Sacred Hearts Club combines that classic Foster The People party sound with much heavier electronic influences this time around, reminiscent of some of those summer bangers you’ve been hearing at the club this year.
If you came looking for ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ you won’t find it here, but you will find a similar feel that you came to know and love underpinning many of the album’s standout tracks. This is new territory for the band who’ve taken huge risks pushing their distinctive, signature sound in a different direction, journeying through synth and even verging on psychedelic at times.
'signature sound in a different direction, journeying through synth and even verging on psychedelic at times'
Overall, this is an album easy to listen to with a load of great tracks that will slot seamlessly into any Belushi’s playlist. Keep an ear out for those familiar bouncy guitar riffs, ‘Lotus Eater’ as the heaviest track and the opening bass line to ‘Doing it for the Money’ which is sure to get your attention.
