Football

What a World Cup it was! Do you remember thinking England would go all the way, only to be knocked out by Croatia? We’re still bitter but let’s face it, France probably deserved that win with their incredible side. This was an awesome event in all of our cities across Europe. Watch the penalty shootout for England v Columbia…

At club level Man City blew everyone away winning the Premier League with a record 100 points. In Europe, Real Madrid won the Champions League for a third year in a row in a final that Karius will never want to watch back. But we do…

MMA: UFC 229

MMA was in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons after the entourages for Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov clashed after their bout in UFC 229. Both modern greats were subsequently banned and a rematch has been touted ever since. Here’s the highlights of the actual fight…

Rugby

Although not a World Cup year, there was still plenty of action to be had. In the Southern hemisphere the All Blacks won the Rugby Championship. Here’s the highlights of an absolute thriller in the last round of the tournament…

Watch the highlights of Round 6, South Africa v New Zealand...

Meanwhile, in the northern hemisphere, Ireland beat all before them winning a grand slam in the Six Nations tournament. None of which would have been possible if Sexton hadn’t nailed a monster drop goal to defeat France in overtime in their first game...

Boxing

There were two standout fights of the year for us. The first was the rematch between Canelo and ‘Triple G’ after their controversial first fight draw, and this one proved almost as contentious with Canelo being awarded the win when many thought it was a draw at best.

But the fight we’ve chosen for these 2018 highlights was the first between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury that ended in the most memorable draw of the year. The two unbeaten heavyweights clashed, with Fury looking like he would edge it on points before Wilder knocked him down in the 12th with what looked like a KO. Somehow, Fury got back up and the judges scored a draw meaning the warriors would have to battle it out again. You’ll enjoy the highlights of this one (skip to 16:30 for the 12th round)...

American football

2018 saw the defending champions Patriots face off against the Eagles Super Bowl Lii. Given their favourites tag, you can be forgiven for thinking that the Tom Brady-led franchise would triumph, but the Eagles stunned them, winning their first Super Bowl with a scoreline of 41–33 inspired by injury backup quarterback Nick Foles who won MVP.
